Volunteer Centre of Toronto, established in 1973, is the prime resource in the community for the recruitment and referral of individuals and training in all areas of volunteer management. In addition to assisting many organizations to obtain qualified volunteers an important objective of the Centre is to actively promote the concept and value of volunteerism to the community and individuals.
United Way of York Region
It is fair to say most communities have a certain level of social need, but York Region is facing a particularly daunting challenge. The ongoing population boom translates into a significant increase in social need. At the same time, government funding for social programs in York Region is lagging behind other areas of the province.
