FINDING ACCOMMODATION IN YOUR NEW CITY

Easy Relocation, All the Help you need

Help Form

Finding accommodation is a difficult task at the best of times. Finding a place to live before you've even arrived in your new city will not be easy, but it is not impossible.

There are a number of options you can choose from. In the end, it is likely that a combination of these will meet your needs.

Keep in mind that most properties are listed the month before the landlord want someone to move in, and not six months before.

Send a family member ahead of time:

One suggestion, if possible might be to have one family member come to the city a week or two before the rest of your family. That way this person could stay in a hotel or Motel for that short period and find appropriate accommodation for the rest of your family. Once there, they could more easily access the services listed below.

Property Rental Management Companies:

provide a range of services from screening potential tenants to managing properties for the owners. They also advertise their vacancies on individual web sites or national portals like the ones we have listed below.

Most newspapers in Canada contain classified advertisements (typically referred to as classified ads) where many landlords publish information about available property. Usually the month before they want someone to move into their property.

Visiting these ads will give you an idea about price and availability of the type of property you're looking for. You can find these classified ads on most newspaper websites. To find the newspapers in your city of choice

You can also look in our city category
"Newspapers & Magazines" a link can be found on each city main page.

House Rental:

Renting a house is not cheap. Usually the rent is a lot higher than an apartment. Of course, this depends entirely upon the location of the property, the landlord, and how eager the landlord is to rent it out. If the landlord hasn’t been able to rent for the past few months, the price is going to come down. However, if the property is in a popular location, the rent is going to rise.

The best place to look for house rentals is in the newspaper classifieds in your new city. Some Real Estate Agents will also do house rental. We found that there are a lot of sites out there who do not live up to their listins and we seemed to get a lot of apartments when we researched for House Rentals.
